Jolie Mack | Fine Photo Expression

Jolie Mack Photo has begun a little life of its own, starting right from Jolie Mack Jewelery Designs. The jewels needed photos and so I needed to take a crash course in point and shoot pictures. The Little Canon entered my world and as I sized up shots, practiced macro skills and photologged everything I saw, I realized that I loved the process.

The Big Canon showed up under the Christmas tree about 3 years ago and we have been inseparable ever since. The Little Canon still gets love, but my 60D is my buddy. It's not the "pro" DSLR, but I have yet to exhaust the limits of this fabulous body (ahem, the camera that is.)

When I compose, I use the entire frame for the shot - that is, I don't shoot to crop out an interesting element. If I see something worth capturing I'll do so by getting up close and personal or figuring out the best way to frame the scene as it is. This is challenging (I'm told) but more rewarding. It bugs me that digital technology makes photography so easy. I try to pretend like my camera is loaded with film and I have to make the best of every shot. Like live tv, kind of. Why not use film then? Because digital photography is, um...easier. No - more creative? More accessible? Faster, maybe. More compatible with modern mediums...yes, I guess all of these things. So then I have to work hard at being great and different.

You won't see a lot of people in my images - people close up are just not my forte. I do like the bits and pieces that make people's lives up, such as their cars, favorite mugs and maybe even their tools. Animals are a draw and children to a point. No weddings (unless it's the cake,) no babies (maybe the bottle) and no family portraits (no.) So am I useful to you? Sure, love my style. Let's photograph some of the objects and places in your life that have meaning - let's put that stuff up on your wall. Never could understand why people decorate with pictures of random objects (artsy shots of pencils, shoes, or car parts...) You have that stuff too and it's yours! Now that is so cool.
